Our story started at Bondi beach a few years back. Our co-founder Lisa was trying to park at Bondi Beach. Having circled the block for nearly an hour trying to find a spot, she pulled up outside someone’s driveway and asked the owner if she could park in his driveway for the afternoon for $20. The owner said yes… and his name was Oscar! That’s how the idea for Share with Oscar was borne.
At Oscar, Our mission is to make our cities more liveable through sharing. We’re changing the way we share our infrastructure and resources when we don’t use them, to create greener, smarter, and more liveable cities.
There is only 1 parking space for every 6 drivers in our urban cities, and in highly urbanised cities, finding parking is just about impossible. Yet there is so much unused space for the most part of the day that’s hidden, locked away and private. Instead of building more unsightly parking lots, let’s help each other by lending what we already have, and making the most efficient use of space.
Oscar helps members of the community to earn some additional income whilst unlocking more parking spaces for the drivers who need them.
We believe that as a community, we can help solve our city’s parking woes.
Share with Oscar is a Sydney-based company founded by two female entrepreneurs who are passionate about creating smarter, more sustainable cities.
Oscar was developed to help alleviate the pain of searching for parking in crowded areas. The idea came about when our co-founder Lisa felt the stress and frustration of finding parking at Bondi beach, and yet saw so many empty driveways dotted around.
Whilst Oscar has been likened to Airbnb and Uber, we believe it is different in one very critical aspect – It requires next to no effort to deliver a substantial earning. Airbnb requires cleaning the house and furnishing it, Uber requires time driving passengers around. With 2 clicks on Oscar, owners simply share and earn from their driveway, no maintenance or effort required.
Like with those great companies founded out of a garage, Oscar was both founded in a garage, and on a garage. Today, Share with Oscar is Australia’s largest network of ondemand parking, with solutions for all types of parking needs. Oscar smart parking technology, which provides real time, availability by the minute is used by businesses to better manage their parking facilities and optimise the use of space.
