For our first edition of our ‘Meet the Founders’ series, we thought it fitting to pay tribute to Women’s Day and start this series off with our own female founders, Lisa Qi and Louise Chen.
In 2016, Lisa approached Louise with a one of a kind concept, to help each other by lending what we already have, and create an on-demand parking app through sharing and community.
Whilst Oscar has been likened to Airbnb and Uber- there is one very special aspect that is unique- our mission is to make our cities more liveable through sustainability. We’re changing the way we share our infrastructure and resources when we don’t use them, to create greener, smarter, and more liveable cities. Instead of building more unsightly parking lots, together we can create smarter, more sustainable cities.
As you know, Oscar is all about making the most of your life – in particular your free time. Let’s hear what our founders top tips are for making the most of their lives!
Making sure that I actually switch off from work. As a founder, when you live and breathe a business every day for years, it’s often hard to switch off and think about things other than business. I’m no good at meditation and sitting still (I wish I was) as my mind will typically wander back to work-related things so I start by distracting myself with something else to occupy my thoughts e.g. a book, the tv, music, picking up the phone and connecting with friends and family!
Sundays are for family. Every Sunday, we spend the day with my family, cooking or heading out. We visit my parents every Sunday, without fail.
Now that we are mostly working from home, a morning walk out in the fresh air before firing up the laptop (rain, hail, or shine).
